New Things for Tanner

Saturday was like Christmas for Tanner. First of all, he got new bunk beds from a family in our ward who is moving away. We were so happy they offered them to us! Now Tanner doesn't have to sleep on the floor anymore. And he loves climbing to the top bunk. And second of all, it was Springfield's community yard sale day, so there were tons of yard sales going on. I drove around and stopped at several of them, and I found some great toys for Tanner. He got a cool new tool set (complete with a workshop table), a little tricycle/scooter, a train chair for his table, and one of those wooden bead toy things (like what you see at doctor's offices). It was an exciting day for him!

Some Wild Photos

Our Grenada Friends

Our friends, the Whitney family, who were our neighbors in Grenada, got placed in New Jersey for rotations. They moved  here a couple months ago. They live in Springfield, too, pretty close to us, and we've been hanging out with them a lot. I have some pictures here of the kids' water activity and movie night. Tanner loves to play with them. It's so nice to have our old friends back!

Brooklynn's Blowout

While blowouts were a common occurrence during Tanner's early life, they are rare for Brooklynn. So this was quite the surprise. The amount of poop that went up her back, onto her car seat, and onto my shirt was unbelievable (it may not look like much from these pictures, but that's because most of it was on her car seat, which we refrained from taking a picture of). Josh couldn't stop laughing as he took these pictures.

Tanner Sleeps Anywhere

One night, Tanner was yelling at us from under his door because he didn't want to go to bed. There's a huge gap between the door and the floor, so he can easily see me and Josh walking around the rest of the apartment. He was mad one evening and laid there yelling at us for a while. Eventually it went quiet, and we found him fast asleep right behind the door. In the second picture, Josh was barely able to fit the camera through the door to get the picture. Then we wanted to get him into bed, which was really tricky. He's a deep sleeper, so making noise wouldn't wake him. And his skin was stuck to the floor, so trying to push him with the door didn't work. Luckily we were able to shove the door open just enough for me to squeeze through. And then I carried the silly boy to bed.

Tanner Lately...

This was Tanner's first attempt ever at putting his shirt on by himself. He couldn't get his head through the hole. When we told him he looked like a ninja, he decided to go jump on our bed and be crazy like a ninja (in his underwear, of course).

This is what happens when Tanner gets a bowl of chocolate ice cream. A bath almost always follows.

And this is Brooklynn. She gives us no troubles and causes zero mischief, so we never have any funny pictures of her to show. But I'm not complaining!

Costco Sleeping Trip

This made for a very easy-breezy shopping trip for me. He fell asleep in the car on the way there, and he stayed asleep through the transition to the shopping cart. I was trying to wake him up when an employee suggested that I lay him down in the cart, and I thought, Why not? Best idea ever. And easiest Costco shopping experience ever.

Running at the Track

A fun family activity that we have been doing lately is going to a nearby track to run in the evenings. Josh and I take turns pushing the stroller at a slow jog (which is the same pace as Tanner's run), while the other one of us goes running ahead to get a good workout. Tanner tries so hard to keep up with the one of us who is running ahead, but his legs are just too short. It is so cute when he's trying to run super fast. This is the BEST THING EVER for getting him to fall asleep quickly at night! He usually runs about 3/4 of a mile, which is plenty enough exercise to wear him out. It's a great activity for all of us! We have a lot of fun.

Here are my crazy kids just being who they are. We have a lot of fun around here.
