New Year's Eve Surprise

Tanner gave us a surprise today- he rolled over for the first time! He was just lying on his back next to Josh on the bed, and Josh noticed that he was trying to roll over. So he called me into the room. Right after I got there, Tanner rolled over onto his belly. It was a milestone! Tanner was a little bit in shock and started crying (I think he was also upset because his arm was stuck underneath his body and he couldn't get it out). Unfortunately, I didn't get the camera in time. But I'll get a video of it soon, assuming he keeps doing it.

Christmas Eve and Day

On Christmas Eve, we decided to give Tanner his first taste of sugar. So we put some whipped cream on his mouth to see what he would do with it. I think he ate a little, but it mostly ended up all over his hands.
This is Tanner in his Christmas Eve jammies right before bed. (Really, they're nothing special-- just a pair of jammies that he's been wearing for a long time. So we pretended that they were new.)

This is our Christmas tree and gifts that we got each other. Josh gave me that plant, which was a really nice gift. We also got snorkeling gear, a muffin tin, books, and waterbottles.
Tanner got his first Christmas gift ever-- a soccer ball! He'll be able to push it around when he starts crawling. By the look on his face, you can tell that he's thrilled.

Christmas Party

We had a Christmas party with our friends the other night. Tanner was Baby Jesus in the nativity. He did a good job!

Our New Car

We got a "new" car (it's from the '90s). It's also European style, which is pretty fun. We're driving on the left side of the road now!

Mt. Caramel

Yesterday we went with our friends, the Reece's, to Mt. Caramel. We hiked to a beautiful waterfall and then we went to a place where there is smooth rock that you can slide down into a pool of water. It was a lot of fun!

Tan's New Crib

We are borrowing a crib until June, when the lender is returning to the island. By then, we'll have the chance to get our own pack and play or something. Tanner slept very well in in the first night. He slept an 8 1/2 hour stretch, which is the longest he's ever done.

Cute Kid

Here are a couple more pictures to show how cool Tanner is. In the first picture, he really wanted to show me his gums, and in the second picture, he has a binky ring around his mouth from sucking so hard. He's a silly boy.

The Beach

We went to the beach yesterday at sunset. It was awesome! Tanner wanted to eat all those bananas, but we made him pose by them instead.

The Pool

Tanner swam with me in the pool for an hour and a half! He loved it! He wasn't even scared. In fact, he felt so comfortable in the water that he fell asleep. During the last 45 minutes, I cruised around the pool with a sleeping baby in my arms!

This Morning

While he waited to go to the pool, he sat in his swing and watched his daddy study. So exciting!
This morning, Tanner got all dressed to go the pool. He got all decked out in his swim trunks and sleeveless shirt.

Growing Up

Tanner surprised me the other day by rolling onto his side for the first time. He's growing up so fast!

Goin' Swimming

We took Tanner into the pool at an SO activity (Significant Other Club, which I am a part of), and he was a little bit scared. He got used to it after a while and was quite happy. We were getting ready to take this picture while he was happy, but Josh accidentally splashed him and it made him cry. Hence the sad face. What a cutie! He'll warm up to the water eventually.

Mommy and Daddy Time

Tanner and I made our Christmas tree this year (he helped by being happy in his swing for the hour it took me to make it). Josh came up with the idea to make one ornament a day until Christmas. It's called the 25 Days of Christmas! I decided that a BYU ornament would be appropriate for the first one.

Tanner thinks that we're the coolest parents he's ever had.
