Having Fun with Tanner

This is how Tanner sleeps in his pack-n-play. He loves to sprawl out in crazy weird positions that look really uncomfortable. Whatever floats his boat!
Tanner finally had his first taste of multigrain baby cereal. He is still having a hard time swallowing, but I think he'll catch on soon.

Eating Mangoes

Tanner is now experiencing little bits of fruit every once in a while. We're not feeding him solids yet on a daily basis, but twice now we have fed him tiny bits of fruit. He struggles to swallow, but he has managed to swallow a few little bites. He'll get better at it with practice!

Sunday Best

This is Tanner's Sunday outfit. He looks pretty spiffy in his clip-on tie and shiny vest. Thanks, Grandma Oaks, for this totally awesome outfit! It looks great on him. And everyone at church loved it, too.

Sitting Up and Brushing Teeth

Tanner can sit up now all on his own! He's still a little wobbly, but he's getting stronger and more coordinated every day.

I recently bought a baby toothbrush so that I can brush his two little teeth every night.

The Blackout

On Thursday, there was a planned blackout in our neighborhood (Lance aux Epines). Apparently they needed to work on something at the power plant. So, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. we didn't have electricity. Yes, this is Grenada. We just don't ask questions anymore. Anyway, this meant no lights, no air conditioning, no microwave, no computer, etc. Our water pump was shut off as well, because it runs on electricity. So we had no water. It was an overcast day, which made the apartment extra dim. I couldn't see well enough to do my daily house cleaning. And I was hot and sweaty by noon with no AC. It was kind of miserable, so I decided enough was enough. I packed up Tanner and the stroller, and we went to the mall. This is a picture of him hanging out at the food court while I read a book. It wasn't a very exciting or adventurous trip, but at least there were lights and AC! We had a good time. (Josh was saved because he was on campus for most of the blackout. It didn't affect campus.)

Little Cowboy

This is Tanner in his awesome cowboy outfit that Grandma Oaks gave him. What a cute kid in a cute outfit!

Almost Bedtime

The other night, I got Tanner in his jammies and then played with him for a few minutes before I put him to bed. The pictures show how crazy close he is to crawling- he can already lift himself on his knees and elbows! The video shows him rolling over and being crazy, like he always is. (Try to ignore Josh and Shane studying in the background...)

Tanner's Sticky Situation

Tanner gets himself into a lot of sticky situations that are often traumatizing. Here is one of them.

Valentine's Day

Today, Josh bought me fresh Caribbean flowers that are grown here on this island. They're so pretty! We also went on a hot date to our favorite Chinese restaurant, Choo Light, and then we got a milkshake at the mall. It was definitely a great Valentine's Day!

The Story of My Awesomeness

This is our donut tire. It was on our car for a while.
This is why the donut tire was on our car. Yes, I did hit a curb. And yes, I did slash our tire on the curb. I make my husband so proud.

Silly Little Dude

One day, I found Tanner like this in his crib-- sleeping with his bum in the air. I just don't even know what to say...
I can't seem to stop him from doing this. He gets all wrapped up in blankets and doesn't know what to do. He likes to get himself into trouble and then wait for his mommy to bail him out.
I was surprised one day to find that he had pulled a piece of his play mat off and was chewing on it. What a crazy kid!
Today, Josh put a bottle in Tanner's mouth and Tanner immediately took hold of it. He fed himself the whole bottle!
Here's a toothy grin! Tanner got his second tooth yesterday. That's two in one week!

Fort George

Earlier this week, we went to an old fort in downtown St. George's called Fort George. It was pretty cool. As you can see, Tanner loved it. In the second to last picture, notice the small patch of hair on the back of Tanner's head. That is all he has left. Poor bald dude!

A New Milestone

We have some great news-- today, Tanner sprouted his first tooth! He got it just one week before his five month mark. No wonder he's been so slobbery lately. He's growing up so fast!

Tanner's New Outfits and Other Stuff

Tanner just grew into a couple of new outfits (for 6-month-old babies, and Tanner is not even 5 months). These are overalls that just look so dang cute on him.
This is a pair of dinosaur pajamas.
He did this all by himself.
He's going to be crawling pretty early, I think. He always acts like he's trying to crawl away. With a little more muscle strength, he'll be able to easily.
I just thought this smile was way cute. He smiles like that all the time now.

More New Fruits

I went to the local fruit stand again and bought some new fruits to try. The top picture is called a French Cashew. It tastes kind of like a plum. The bottom picture is a Golden Apple. It's very sour and tastes kind of like a pineapple. It's really fun to try all of these different fruits!
