Liberty State Park

When we first moved here, I was completely surprised to find out that the Statue of Liberty is in New Jersey. Yes indeed- Liberty Island is technically in New Jersey waters! And in Jersey City, there is a park called Liberty State Park that overlooks Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Would you believe that we live only 25 minutes away from there? It's so close! So on Saturday, we went there with our friends, the Roberts. We had a nice long walk around the park and then we ended with the playground.

Josh was totally in heaven when he found this huge chess set. So we ate lunch here while he and Wade played an intense game of chess overlooking New York City.

This was the most ginormous playground we have ever seen! It was so much fun.
We found out that there are ferry rides that you can take from this park to Ellis Island and Liberty Island, so we are hoping to come back and do that soon.

Eating Peaches!

I recently cut up a fresh peach for Brooklynn to try out, and she liked it a lot! I've also given her fresh blueberries and mango, and small pieces of bread. She's starting to eat more table foods. Here comes the transition from baby food to normal people food!

Playing Outside and New Stroller

 We've been going outside a lot this summer, mostly just to play right outside our front door. Tanner likes to draw on the sidewalk with chalk, play in the dirt with his cars, and blow bubbles. We also go to the little playground around the corner, where Brooke likes to swing.

Our stake president's wife gave us her old jogging stroller. It's still in great condition, and it's perfect for walks! We love it.

Brooklynn is Crawling!

Brooklynn can crawl now! Here is a little clip of it. She's very timid with crawling and only goes short distances. It's pretty cute.

Fun Times Around Here

Someone in our ward was moving, and they gave us these shelves with bins that they didn't want anymore. They are perfect for Tanner's toys- and for Brooklynn to sit in!

 Tanner always asks for "Two books!" when he goes poo-poo.

Brooklynn got a hold of Tanner's chocolate cake spoon and was going to town with it. She obviously loved it.

Tractor!

They were redoing parts of the sidewalk at our apartment complex this week, and Tanner got to watch the whole process through our windows. Josh took him out there once to see the tractor, and the workers let him get inside of it.

Things Around Here

 Tanner was so excited when I bought him some Spider Man underwear, so he carried it around with him all day. And fell asleep hugging it.

Water Fun!

This week, I took the  kids to a splash pad/playground in Berkeley Heights for some fun. It was a hot day, so the splash pad felt great. The kids got lathered in sunscreen and had a great time. Brooke relaxed on a beach towel while Tanner ran through the water and slid down the wet slide over and over again.

I also took the kids to play in the water with our friends, the Whitneys, at their house. Tanner went crazy with the hose.
