More Beach Pictures

Tanner played at the beach this morning with his buddies for two hours. He got sand caked all over his face, arms, and legs, but he didn't care; he was living it up! He loves playing in the sand with beach toys. While he was enjoying the sand, an occasional wave would come really high up the shore, and he would run from it as though it were a monster trying to attack him. It was so funny to watch that. So he's still a little bit afraid of the waves, but he will go in the water as long as I'm holding him. (In the bottom picture, you can see the scrapes under his nose that he got when he biffed it on the pavement yesterday.)

Big Boy

Tanner is getting very tall. This is a picture of him sleeping in his bed. His feet are touching the wall, which means that he only has a couple of inches left to grow before he's too big for it. I keep telling him that he needs to stop growing, but he won't listen. Think we can make it with this bed until May? We're going to have to!

Pool Fun with Friends

This is Tanner playing in our neighbor's pool with his two best buddies, Jeremy and Leia. He just loves playing in water. He especially loved playing with the spray of water coming from the hose. That was a great activity for those kiddos.

Clever Boy

Tanner is very resourceful when it comes to finding ways to get up to the kitchen countertop. We even tried to blockade the kitchen with overturned chairs, but he still managed to get through.

Tanner the Big Helper

Tanner loves to help me make dinner and wash dishes and stuff like that. Josh took this video while I was making mashed potatoes one evening. It's a pretty cute video, so enjoy!

Saying Goodbye

Last night, we sold our car. It was kind of sad to see it go (although it was quite a relief at the same time, because we won't have to worry about getting it sold anymore before we move away). Tanner loved to play in the driver's seat, so we let him play in it one last time. This car is (hopefully) the only European-style car we will ever own. We had some good times, and some terrifying times, driving on the left side of the road, but I sure can't wait to get back to the States where we can drive on the right side of the road. So anyway, for the next 3 months, we will be using the bus system to travel places. It will be an adventure!

Juice Box & Sidewalk Chalk

Here are some fun pictures of Tanner chilling outside with his juice box and learning how to use sidewalk chalk. He loves spending lots of time outside every day, so we have to make each day exciting somehow. Sidewalk chalk is pretty exciting to him. It got a little out of hand, though, when he started rubbing the chalk in his hair. He had blue all over him by the time we were done!

Valentine's Day Date

This is the flower that Josh got me for Valentine's Day. It's some sort of tropical flower. I think it's beautiful!

For Valentine's Day, we went on a date to a restaurant at Port Louis called Victory Bar & Restaurant. Port Louis is a shopping and dining place right along the boat docks by St. George's. While we were waiting for our food, we took a walk along the port and walked to the end of one of the docks. It was very fun! In the second to last picture (the one with all 3 of us), there's a big white building above Tanner's head in the background. That's the general hospital where Josh goes once a week for hospital rotations. In the bottom picture, you can see that I ordered a lovely margherita pizza, and Josh ordered chicken and vegetable nachos. It was a delicious meal and a great Valentine's Day!

Washing Dishes

Tanner helped me wash the dishes the other day. Well, what really happened was that I was washing dishes, and Josh lifted Tanner up to the sink and set him there to "help Mommy." It was pretty cute.

Messy Eater

This is Tanner eating his favorite breakfast- chocolate chip pancakes. So yummy!

I'm trying to give Tanner more opportunities to learn how to use a spoon. Today, I let him feed himself yogurt. It was a little bit disastrous, but he loved it! I love his squinty-eye smile. Oh, and I didn't get a picture of it, but Tanner drank his very first juice box today. He had so much fun playing with it, even after the juice was gone.

Honor's Society

This picture is a little late, but better late than never! This was at the Honor's Society Banquet last fall. My friend Kim had brought her camera to this and she took a picture of us. I just barely got the picture from her today. Anyway, Josh got a certificate from the Honor's Society, which was pretty cool. And we got a gourmet dinner, too! I'm so proud of my cute husband.

La Sagesse Beach

For Grenada Independence Day today, we went to La Sagesse Beach. This was our first time at that beach, and we loved it! It is probably the most beautiful beach I have ever been to in Grenada. It is shallow way far out, so you can walk really far into the water and still be only in up to your hips. The waves are calm, too, which was nice for Tanner. The beach was surrounded by palm trees and a lot of greenery. I cannot believe how beautiful that beach was.

There was a little stream that ran through the sand into the ocean. This is where Tanner had the most fun. He found sticks and splashed the water with them. And he practiced his swimming.

There was a Grenadian man by the stream, climbing a tree and picking fruit. He gave us some, saying that they are called jujubes (pronounced "ju-ju-bee", like the candy). They looked and tasted like tiny apples. (And those kids in that picture are his kids, playing with Tanner's boat.)
Tanner had so much fun at the beach, he was all tuckered out on the way home and fell asleep. What a fun trip that was!
