Funny Little Things

Tanner is so strong that he can push our kitchen chairs around.

This is Tanner's favorite cooking utensil- a spatula. He digs through the utensil drawer until he finds this one. Then he takes it all around the apartment, never letting go of it. Even when Josh is wrestling him, he won't let go of his spatula!

New Flip-Flops

We bought Tanner some new flip-flops this week. When I first put them on his feet and set him loose, he tripped on them and fell on his face. I felt bad for him, but he was fine- and he learned quick how to be careful while wearing them!

Messy Eater

This is what happens when Daddy feeds Tanner. Josh put black beans, grapes, and a cookie on the tray at the same time. Of course Tanner went for the cookie first!

Somehow, Tanner reached up onto the kitchen table where I had left a bag of crackers. He pulled them onto the floor, dumped them out, and started shoving them into his face. I guess he was hungry!

Carnival

This past week was Carnival- the biggest holiday in Grenada. On Monday night, they had a parade that we went to. It's not a parade in the American sense, with floats and whatnot. There are no floats and candy in this parade. Here, a parade is a thing that everyone gets to participate in. Basically, everyone dresses up in horns and other weird apparel, and they all march through the city while dancing to loud music and drinking. It's quite the scene. We didn't march, though. We just went to the start of the parade where everyone was getting ready to march. We got a couple of pictures and then decided we were done. It was an interesting experience.

Making Tortillas

Josh and I made tortillas the other day- a favorite kitchen activity for us these days. Homemade tortillas are about 10 times better than store-bought ones. Tanner helped out by terrorizing.

Tanner the Tornado

This is the day that Tanner discovered how to open those cupboards. It was also the day that my life as I knew it was over. There is not a room in this apartment that he can roam freely in without terrorizing like this. So what do I do all day? Clean up after him and try to prevent him from destroying the whole apartment.

Grand Anse Beach

On Saturday, Josh and I took Tanner to Grand Anse Beach to catch some waves. Tanner absolutely loved it! He kept splashing salt water into his face, but even that didn't distract him from having fun.

Trip to Campus

Tanner and I go to campus every Tuesday to bring lunch to Josh. We eat at the food court tables. It's always a really fun trip because we get to see Josh... and buy eggs. They sell local eggs on campus every Tuesday for way cheap. So I hit two birds with one stone every week!

It's Rainy Season!

The rainy season started in full force again here in Grenada. During the rainy season, it rains almost every day. Some days it lasts only a few minutes, but some days it rains all day. We're lucky to get an occasional day of no rain. Just yesterday, it was raining a lot, so we took Tanner out to get a little wet.

Guinep Fruit

This is the guinep fruit, or as the local Grenadians call it, "skin up" fruit. It is very delicious. The skin pops off easily- all you have to do is prick it with your teeth, and it pops open. The seed inside is covered in a sweet fruit. You suck on it until the fruit is gone, and then spit the seed out. The fruit is so sweet, it tastes like candy.

Funny Little Guy

Josh got Tanner all tangled up in a blanket, and it was pretty cute watching Tanner try to get out of it. The video is just showing how Tanner loves it when we blow a fan on his face.
